POSTING

The posting process is quick and straightforward. Members can submit text, pictures, video, and documents. All users can view the content submitted to your site.

  • Stories

    Members can submit text stories with flexible formatting.

  • Pictures

    Members can upload images from their desktop and attach them to their story. Supports all major file types, with automatic formatting for display on the site.

  • Videos

    Members can submit videos in various formats. Supported file types are .avi, .mov, .wmv, and .mpg. Videos are played on a custom video player with full playback and user controls. Flash format assures widest possible compatibility and great video quality.

  • Documents

    Members may also submit documents in .pdf format that can be viewed in the browser window or downloaded to the desktop.

  • Organize

    Members have the abilty designate the category of their posts and apply tags, aiding sorting and organization.

MAPS

Instant Journalist's maps help members share where their stories occurred and see the stories and the people in their neighborhood.

  • Profile

    Members have the option of selecting a location and a neighborhood. The chosen neighborhood will be displayed in their profile and helps them discover other members of their community.

  • Post

    When a member submits a story they may select the location and neighborhood of where their story happened, which will be displayed on their story's main page.

  • Stories

    Every story with a location can be seen on the Stories-Map page. Viewers can easily navigate through the map to find the news that happens in their area.

  • Neighborhoods

    Each neighborhood has its own page with a map showing it's location, a list of members, and every story that has occurred there.

RATING and COMMENTS

Instant Journalist's rating and voting system helps users find the stories that others feel are of good quality, and comments allow them to speak up and voice their opinions.

  • Rating

    All submitted content is subject to voting. Members can rate content by chosing stars (one to five). Instant Journalist tracks the ratings and vote count for all content and uses them for sorting and organization.

  • Comments

    Members can easily leave comments and start discussions about any of the content submitted to your site. Any visitor to your site can view the ratings and comments.

SHARE!

All users have the abilty to share content with friends via email and embed the video player.

  • Emailing

    Users can easily send links to content by just entering an email address and clicking send.

  • Embedding

    The code for embedding the video player is provided so that any user can post the video on any other site.

PROFILE

Members can easily manage their profile page, consisting of some personal information and all of the content that they have submitted.

  • About

    Members can upload a profile picture, display their neighborhood name, and write a message to introduce themselves to others.

  • Stories

    All of the content that the member has submitted can be accessed. Stories, videos, and pictures can be viewed in list or table format for easy browsing.
